There is a distinction between the participating and non-participating Community Surveys.

The participating Surveys have to contribute resources to the joined effort of the Infrastructure Working Groups (IWGs), and in return they receive the Level 2 (L2) data products (science analysis of Level 1 (L1) calibrated 1D spectra), that will be provided by the 4MOST Galactic Pipeline (4GP), Extragalactic Pipeline (4XP), Classification Pipeline (4CP), and Selection Function Pipeline (4SP).

The non-participating Surveys will not receive the products of L2 pipelines and will therefore have to develop their own analysis of Level 1 spectra.

The participating surveys are of course welcome to produce their own/additional L2 products as well.
